Facebook Ads for Nepali Businesses: Beginner Guide

Facebook Ads for Nepali Businesses: Beginner Guide

Most Nepali businesses' Facebook advertising experience goes like this: boost a post for a few thousand rupees, get some likes, see no sales, conclude "Facebook ads don't work." Facebook ads work fine - boosting posts blindly does not. This guide covers what beginners actually need: the setup that makes ads measurable, the targeting that makes them efficient, and the mistakes that burn budgets.

Why "Boost Post" Is the Weakest Option

The Boost button optimizes for engagement - likes and comments - because that is the simplest thing Facebook can sell you. But likes are not leads. Ads Manager (free, at business.facebook.com) unlocks what boosting hides: conversion objectives, proper audiences, placement control, and actual measurement. Same money, dramatically different machinery.

The Setup That Comes Before Ads

  1. Business Manager + Business Page - with two-factor authentication on every admin (hijacked ad accounts are a plague here; see our security post).
  2. The Meta Pixel on your website - the tracking code that tells you which clicks became inquiries or orders. Without it you are advertising blindfolded. No website? At minimum use WhatsApp click tracking - better, get a landing page built.
  3. A destination that converts - the ad is only half the machine. Sending paid clicks to a slow homepage wastes them; send them to a fast page (or WhatsApp flow) matching the ad's promise.

Your First Real Campaign

  • Objective: choose what you actually want - Leads, Sales, or Messages (WhatsApp/Messenger campaigns fit Nepal's buying culture beautifully). Not Awareness, not Engagement.
  • Audience: start simple - location (your service cities), age range, and 2-3 interest layers. Resist micro-targeting; the algorithm needs room to learn.
  • Creative: the first three seconds decide everything. Real photos and simple videos of your actual product/work consistently beat polished stock graphics. Write the caption like a WhatsApp message to a customer, not a press release. Test 2-3 versions.
  • Placement: automatic placements to start - narrow later based on results.

Budgets and Expectations in Nepal

Realistic numbers: local campaigns can learn on modest daily budgets - but give any campaign at least 5-7 days before judging: the algorithm's learning phase needs data, and day-two panic edits reset it. Expect your first campaign to be tuition; the second, informed by its data, is where efficiency appears.

Measure cost per result (lead, message, order) - never cost per click alone. A campaign with expensive clicks that convert can beat one with cheap clicks that do not.

The Five Classic Mistakes

  1. Boosting from the app instead of building in Ads Manager.
  2. Judging in 48 hours and editing mid-learning-phase.
  3. One ad, one audience, no tests - you learn nothing from a sample of one.
  4. No pixel, no tracking - "it felt like it worked" is how budgets die.
  5. Ignoring the message flood: ads that generate inquiries nobody answers for six hours burn both money and reputation. Assign responsibility before launching - or automate first responses (our chatbot service exists for exactly this).

When to get help

DIY is genuinely viable for simple local campaigns - this guide is enough to start. Professional management earns its fee when budgets grow (waste scales too), when you need full-funnel setups with retargeting and catalogs, or when tracking breaks and attribution turns to fog. That line of work is our Meta Ads service - including a free audit of anything you have already run.
